A BIT ABOUT US

St. George's  Knights of Columbus Council 12560 in Post Falls, Idaho was chartered in 1999.  The primary mission of our council is to support St. Georges Catholic Church and our greater community.  We do this by embracing the virtues of the Knights of Columbus: Charity, Unity and Fraternity.

All of our programs are based upon the Knights model of Faith in Action that involves an emphasis upon Faith, Family, Community and Life.  Currently, there are 130 active members of our council.  We hold our regular business meeting every fourth Tuesday of the month in the Social Hall at St. Georges.  The meetings start at 6:00 PM.

We are engaged in a variety of programs that directly support our church.  Our council organizes our church's usher and safety team programs.  We assist with various building and grounds maintenance projects at the church.  Each month (October-May) the council prepares and serves a breakfast to parishioners attending our Sunday 8:30 and 10:30 Masses that includes pancakes, French Toast, sausage, bacon, potatoes, biscuits and gravy and fresh fruit, coffee and juice.  There is no charge for this breakfast. However, we do accept donations.

Our council organizes two blood drives per year for our church.  The Knights also prepare food for our annual parish picnic.  We organize a Rosary for Life Prayer every Sunday during Lent.

We prepare funeral luncheons for the family and friends of our Brother Knights when they pass.  We engage in an annual membership drive.  We visit our Brother Knights when they are sick and homebound.

We support our parishioners by sponsoring a Knights Christmas Fund to assist needy families.  Every Saturday, our Knights operate the Post Falls Food Bank truck traveling to grocery stores in eastern Washington and northern Idaho collecting food for the Food Bank.  Over the past years, our Knights have collected nearly 2 million pounds of food that assists in feeding an estimated 60,000 people each year in Kootenai County, Idaho.

For the past six years, the Knights have organized an annual charity golf tournament held the first Saturday after Labor Day at the Prairie Falls Golf Course in Post Falls.  Each year, 90% of the proceeds from our tournament is donated to local charitable groups.  Over the course of the past four years, we have donated more to $80,000 to a variety of organizations whose missions are to help the most vulnerable citizens in our community.

Recently, we started an annual maintenance project at the Cataldo Mission where we assist the Mission with a variety of projects.  The Cataldo Mission is the birthplace of Catholicism in Idaho.
